Everytime I've gotten a little sad about Nolan leaving, I would remind myself that we still had one more holiday to spend together as a family. It was such a happy Fourth of July. Even though Nolan was set apart and in MTC mode, and we couldn't watch Will Smith in Independence Day like we usually do, I was nothing but grateful for one last time to be all together, all under one roof, as a family. It's all I will ever need or want in this life, and in the eternities - to be together.
For our BBQ celebration of Steak and Chicken and ribs and corn on the cob and baked beans and potato salad, we had Chrysta and the girls, the McElyeas, the Carvers, the Hitotos, and Larry, Destini, and Matthias, and the missionaries. For outdoor games and fireworks and homemade ice cream, we added Kaia and her kids and the Green family, and Devin and some of his friends wandered over from across the street. Everyone kept their fingers and limbs; only happy times to speak of, thank goodness!
