Since we didn't get a white Christmas, Mae and I were becoming impatient for snow. We had to spend a somewhat warm day sledding on the dry grass - lame! She was pleasantly surprised though, when I turned out to be the art teacher at her 1st Grade Kansas Day Field Trip - always fun. Kind of a sad feeling when she left - like, there went my last 1st grader 😥. Reed was in the spelling bee and started basketball this month - adorable in both arenas. I caught the little cousins having a super cute tea party, enjoyed another branch baptism (Emma Voorhies), and I guess I took a lot of pictures of the dog 🤷♀️.

Colby's 17th Birthday
It's fun when your kids get to be this old, and they've explored a lot of their talents and collected quite a few interests and you start to feel amazed by the beautiful, complex, impressive person living in your house that used to just be your funny little kid. Colby is funnier now than he's ever been - lots of memorized movie scenes and punch lines and good comedic timing. He also is a crazy good drummer. And we're not those kinds of parents who don't want to hear our kid drumming in the house - can't get enough of it, actually. He's SO smart; taking all advanced classes and trying for valedictorian. He's also very dedicated to the Lord - learning to repent and apply the Atonement, taking his sister to seminary, and lots of other awesomeness. He got a new drum set for his birthday, and tickets to a live comedy show in Wichita (Nate Bargatze). Also had the Boones over for dinner on his birthday cuz they're his favorite. Needless to say, we love that Colby to bits and pieces.
