ACFAS in Austin

Check out this view! Scott's annual podiatry conference has become something for me to really look forward to. Not only do I love getting away with him, but I love seeing our old friends from Med School and Residency. This year's was in Austin Texas and baby Mae got to come along. We had a beautiful room overlooking the downtown area, and we hit up several awesome restaurants before the weekend was through. I got away with the doctors wives while Scott was in classes (yes, we graffittied some walls, but I was told it was not illegal and we tried to use our spray paint for good, not evil). We also took a day trip to Magnolia Farms...not really worth the long lines, but a Texas must-see.

Colby's 11th Birthday

Colby just gets better with age, and we love him more and more every year. He a is a true peacemaker in our home...always quick to obey and eager to please us. For a boy who can hardly ever contain his enthusiasm, he sure is good at controlling his temper. He does not like raised angry voices, but he thoroughly believes in screaming for joy! I love that about him! And of course he is smart and talented as ever and continues to accomplish great things...including winning 1st place at the pinewood derby this year! He had a blast at his Star Wars birthday party with his all his best buds, except for Trenton who was out of town that day. Love that Colby kid :)

Happy New Year!

I was not looking forward to New Year's this year because I knew Scott was leaving town to vacay with his brothers. And don't tell him I said this, but it was seriously my favorite New Year's Eve ever...thanks to Grandma! She found a list of fun New Year activities for kids and we decided to do them all! After decorating and hunting down everyone's favorite fast food, we then proceeded to make party hats and fizzy drinks, light up the disco ball and dance, pose in the photo booth, play the M&M game, build a fort, watch a movie with caramel popcorn (after which they kids started to pass out in age order from youngest to oldest). The big boys, however, made it all the way to midnight and had all the sparklers and noise makers to themselves. It was another happy, healthy year for us Gordons and you won't hear any complaining from me!

Christmas 2015

Look at those 6 smiling angels sitting under my Christmas tree! They are the greatest gifts I have ever received (next to their dad). When I look at them and I realize that last year we didn't have Mae, and the year before that we had no intention of having her, I can't believe how close we came to missing out and how blessed we are to be together. Mae partially owes her existence to her older siblings, especially Hanna and Nolan, who kept asking me if we could have a baby sister. Even though I always told them no, their Christlike requests struck a deep chord in me. I didn't know at the time that another baby was what I really wanted too. And I know that her dad feels the same way. He loves our old babies and our new baby SO much. Reed is so enamored with his new sister that he asked for a baby doll for Christmas. He says he loves Mae "bigger than everything!" We are a blessed and happy family. The greatest gifts are people to love, and that's all I can think about this Christmas.
