Home MTC and Final Departure

Having Missionary Training here at home with Nolan was a peaceful and uplifting time. As a family we decided to live mission rules with Nolan so we only watched and/or listened to gospel themed music and movies, for two weeks. It was such a blessing for all of us. And I could see Nolan growing spiritually right before our eyes everytime he came out of his room after a long day of classes and meetings. We were so lucky to be a part of it. Since he was so often stuck at a desk, we would try to hurry and get out of the house when he had a break. And even though he still wore a suit, sometimes he wanted to burn off some energy at a park with us. Those will be happy memories for me forever!
On the day he left, his flight went out of Wichita really early in the morning so we had to leave our house even before 4am. There wasn't a single one of his siblings that didn't want to come. We were all at the airport before the sun came up and Jonny met us over there to say goodbye one more time too. It was HARD. Everyone was hurting and Mae was crying uncontrollably. Nolan and I looked at each other like we weren't sure if this was really a good idea. I'm glad he was very brave and put one foot in front of the other toward the escalators. I remained concerned for many hours that day that he would not be able to function, find his way, or arrive without me. He of course did fine. In fact the Hardins picked him up in Salt Lake City and took him sight-seeing a bit, then out to lunch. He was all smiles in his pictures being dropped off at the MTC in Provo. That's where a good chunk of my heart is living now and for the next two weeks.
